CONNIE HASSAN
Ta Moko Provider - Hokianga, Mid North & Far North
Connie is a proud descendant of the tribes of Muriwhenua and was born and raised in the Far North.
Connie has a passion for the delivery of appropriate cultural services within the framework of Te Ao Māori.
She has paddled her waka throughout the motu gathering taonga for her basket of knowledge on her journeys. She has a Post
Graduate Diplomas in Public Health from Otago University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management
from Victoria University.
Connie Has an extensive history of community work ranging from working with South Auckland Street Kids, Rape Crisis,
Auckland Help Foundation and she has worked as a counsellor for Waitaki Family Health Centre Oamaru during which time
she set up the Waitaki Crisis Support Centre and North Otago Rural Women’s Support Group. Connie has served as the
Māori Services Development Manager for ACC and was the Cultural Advisor for Hospital staff and patients at Dunedin Hospital.
Connie is an excellent communicator and was New Zealand Toastmaster of the Year 2002-2003. She has also achieved the
Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award.
