Dr Shagufta Jabeen is a registered psychologist with a Doctorate in Psychology and extensive experience across clinical practice, academia, and cross‑cultural settings. She has worked within a wide range of organisations in both New Zealand and India, including the Ministry of Education, Corrections, District Health Boards, and Refugees as Survivors.

Shagufta provides psychological assessment and therapy for ACC sensitive claims, physical injury, and concussion clients, as well as community‑based referrals. Her practice is grounded in a trauma‑informed, evidence‑based approach, supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and significant life transitions.

Working from an integrative therapeutic framework, Shagufta draws on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma‑informed modalities, and strengths‑based practice. She recognises that every person’s story is unique and tailors her interventions to align with each client’s needs, values, and cultural context.

Although she works with clients of both genders and ages, Shagufta particularly enjoys supporting whanau from diverse socio‑economic, cultural, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. She is multilingual and can communicate with clients in English, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, and conversational Marathi and Bengali. She views learning as a lifelong process and believes that every client offers an opportunity to grow and refine her practice.

Shagufta is known for her calm, empathetic presence and her ability to create a safe, respectful therapeutic space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered. She offers both in‑person and online sessions, providing accessible psychological support to individuals across Aotearoa and internationally.
