Isobelle Robertson
Counsellor
Whangarei
Isobelle originally comes from the UK and has proudly called New Zealand home for the past twenty years. She is a counsellor with a core professional background in mental health nursing, bringing over 25 years of experience across the mental health and counselling field.
After training as a Mental Health Nurse in the UK, Isobelle began her career working in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. She later completed a degree in Behavioural Psychotherapy and worked as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the Nottinghamshire NHS Centre for Trauma and Resilience. Her passion for trauma-focused therapy developed through her work supporting military personnel.
Isobelle offers a warm, client-centred, and safe, therapeutic space. She draws on a range of approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and Person-Centred Therapy. She works with adults experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, panic, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, and sexual difficulties.
Outside of work, Isobelle is a proud mum to her neurodiverse twins. Family life is full of animals, including Dotty the pig and Joy, the calming goat — named after the gentle spirit of Ferdinand the Bull from the movie. Together, they love spending time outdoors, especially horse trekking through the hills and bush of New Zealand. This keeps her very grounded in daily life.
