As a psychotherapist, Andrea focuses on developing a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore underlying causes behind your emotions and behaviours. Together, she will work with you to heal the root cause and emotional wounding which can contribute to ongoing patterns. Allowing you to develop emotional resilience, confidence and the capacity for enjoyment so you can live your best life.
Andrea’s areas of special interest include depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, anger, eating disorders, OCD, self-esteem, grief and loss, work-related issues and life transitions.
Andrea offers both short and long-term therapy as a Psychodynamic Relational Psychotherapist as a way of developing a safe and trusting environment, especially where early relational trauma may have made it difficult to seek help where issues of safety, trust and abandonment may be present.
In addition to primary therapeutic modalities, Andrea is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Gestalt therapy, sand-tray therapy, and art therapy (IDT). This diverse skill set allows Andrea to tailor her approach to effectively meet the unique needs of each client.
Andrea is a psychotherapist registered with Psychotherapists Board (PBANZ), Association of Psychotherapists (APANZ), The International Association for Relational, Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy (IARPP), New Zealand Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy (NZEFCT)
Qualifications include Master of Psychotherapy, Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies, Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences - Alcohol and Drug Studies, Diploma in Counselling - Working with Children and Young People.
