STEVE SMITHSON
Counsellor - Whangarei / Kerikeri
Steve is a counsellor/facilitator of 13 years experience working with a range of clients in a forensic setting and more recently in clinical practice. He has a person centred approach and utilises a number of modalities to meet the needs of the client, such as CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing and ACT. He uses mindfulness practice in his own life to support his clinical support of clients.
Steve’s focus is helping clients reach their therapy goals and welcomes the opportunity to share his toolkit with clients to develop personal strategies for recovery for current and potential future mental health difficulties. Steve works with a varied client base and supports people with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation concerns, family and sexual violence, grief and loss and life changing developments.
Steve is ACC and EAP accredited.
