Welcome to our somatic and movement therapy workshop...
This workshop is run by Dr Kirsten Wooff (Clinical Psychologist) and Shani Dickens (Somatic and Movement Therapy Instructor). There will be up to 15 clients in your group. You will not be required to share any personal details in this workshop.
Somatic therapy is a holistic approach that focuses on the mind-body connection, recognizing that emotional trauma can be held in the physical body. Movement therapy, on the other hand, utilizes the body's natural movements to promote healing and self-expression. In this workshop, you will learn how to listen to and understand the messages your body is sending you, allowing you to release stored trauma and emotions in a safe and supportive environment. You will also learn various movement techniques to help you reconnect with your body, make room for emotions, and build resilience. Through somatic and movement therapy, you will develop tools and skills to regulate your emotions, manage stress, and increase your sense of agency and empowerment. This workshop will help you cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-compassion, ultimately supporting your healing journey from trauma. We invite you to join us on this informative and empowering experience as we work together to connect your mind and body. There will be three sessions all focused on different processes. The first will focus on Awareness and Connection with the body; the second will focus on Release; and the third will focus on Relaxation. Please speak to your therapist about attending this group. |
