SALLY SHEPHERD
Counsellor - Whangarei
Sally is a counsellor who comes from a teaching and pastoral background, and has lived in Whangarei for most of her life, with a recent shift for her and her husband to live in Kerikeri. She has a celt and northern European heritage.
She enjoys working in a holistic, integrative way with people from different walks of life. Her therapy approaches and trainings are in CBT, Mindfulness, Narrative, Drug & Alcohol to Motivational Interviewing stage where she would then encourage they work with a D&A centre for best help.
Sally's supervisors are psychotherapists and so she also brings a flavour of psychotherapy into her work as well as Trauma trainings which has become one the main parts of her kete. She also has other training in Attachment and ACT therapy and Gestalt, to enable people to achieve the goals they want for themselves in their lives. She also works to help couples achieve a more meaningful and safer connection with each other using her training in Imago (relationship) therapy.
Sally is registered with ACC for Sensitive Trauma work and also with Vitea, EAP and PHO services. She has a growing interest in transpersonal therapy where she sees there is a need for people to express their own spiritual values as part of their achieving wellbeing for themselves. Sally holds a certificate in supervision and offers clinical supervision and facilitates group work on Boundaries.
