PENNI NORMAN
Counsellor - Hokianga / Kaikohe
Penni is a descendant of Chinese and European heritage and affiliates to the Iwi of Te Rarawa and Ngati Kuri. She is a qualified counsellor plus a registered social worker with over 30 years’ experience within the social service sector. Penni is also registered with the Social Workers Registration Board.
Penni walks alongside all people; from diverse backgrounds, with a particular desire to mahi those who are most disadvantaged. She carries a myriad of gifts in her kete of knowledge including motivational interviewing; solution focused therapy, Dynamics of Whanaungatanga (DOW), narrative therapy, and various needs and assessment tools. Penni has attained qualifications in child abuse and protection; specialising in interviewing children.
Her mahi is strongly driven from a strength based/ person centred approach. Her practice is underpinned by the vital Te Ao Maori principles of tika, pono and aroha. Penni has a shared vision with her husband Mike; to address, restore and strengthen the well-being of children, young people and whanau who are in need, so that they can achieve their full potential and personal aspirations.
